Save Toronto's Metro Theatre

Toronto's Metro Theatre

The Metro Theatre has been an important part of the Toronto community for nearly 75 years, and it can be a vibrant part of the future as well. It deserves to be part of Toronto's preserved heritage, but it needs our help to survive and thrive in the 21st century.

To provide this help, fans and friends have come together to form the Renovation Campaign.

The savethetheatre Renovation Campaign envisions a Theatre that will serve as the 'art and soul' of Toronto. The renovated State Theatre will help showcase downtown Toronto as an attractive and charming place to do business and live, with attractions and events... The Renovation Campaign is about more than just 'the arts' it is about renovating a source of entertainment that can be enjoyed by all area residents.

Acting on behalf of, and with the support of thecommunity, the Renovation Campaign will try to raise $650,000 to repair it, and get movies playing again, in addition to promoting many additional activities and uses. Our goal is 'Movies and More!' This project represents a commitment to the areas economic vitality, our quality of life. In renovating the Theatre, the fans and friends will be part of a national trend that works to preserve our community heritage and social fabric.

The building renovation will be done in two phases. Phase One focuses on restoration, openness, and accessibility. The initial $650,000 will fund this phase, as well as purchase the building and cover other necessary expenses. Phase Two, will focus on flexibility, unifying the S venue for an even greater variety of uses.
